TWO VALVE TOUR

MAY 2006

THIS WAS TO BE A QUICK TRIP SOUTH TO DO A LITTLE VISITING PLUS ENJOY FAST FOOD AND ICE CREAM. BUT WE ENDED UP WORKING ON THE 2 VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY BURNT AN EXHAUST VALVE EACH. SO THAT IS HOW IT BECAME KNOWN AS THE "TWO VALVE TOUR". LOL

WE STARTED OUT WITH A LOAD OF VEHICLES AND SOME COLLECTABLES FOR THE AIR MUSEUM IN BRANDON MANITOBA. BUT THE FARTHER WE WENT THE WORSE THE EXHAUST VALVE NOISE GOT, SO WE KNEW WHEN WE ARRIVED AT MY PARENTS PLACE THAT WE WOULD BE GETTING DIRTY FIXING THE "SCREAMING FORD".

THIS IS PROOF THAT WE WERE IN THE SOUTH, FLAT AS PIE, PAVED ROADS AND A FANCY SEMI IN THE MIRROR.

SO THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VALVE THAT MADE IT ONLY RUN ON 7 CYLINDERS. A BURNT CHUNK OUT OF THE SIDE, NOT A BIG PROBLEM AS I WOULD SAY.

SINCE THE "SCREAMING FORD" IS 32 YEARS OLD FINDING PARTS WAS FUN BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. WE TRAVELED 30 MILES FROM MY PARENTS PLACE (BETTER KNOWN AS THE INHERITANCE) TO A FARM THAT HAD AN OLD CAB OVER SEMI. SINCE THIS IS THE SOUTH THE FARMER GUARDS HIS COLLECTABLES WITH COWS INSTEAD OF GERMAN SHEPPARD DOGS LIKE WE DO IN THE "KINGDOM". SO THE KING OF OBSOLETE GOT TO HERD SOME COWS AWAY FROM THE GATE SO SOUTHERN BELLE COULD DRIVE DAD'S 1/2 TON IN TO THE PASTURE.

IT WAS A NICE COLD AND RAINY DAY TO BE PLAYING IN THE COW PASTURE BUT WE NEEDED THE CYLINDER HEAD FOR THE "SCREAMING FORD". GOOD THING I ALWAYS HAVE LONG UNDIES AND TOQUE WITH ME AT ALL TIMES.

WITH THE CAB JACKED UP IT STOPPED THE RAIN FROM GETTING ME REALLY WET. SO A CAB OVER TRUCK HAS IT PLUSES. LOL

TO PROTECT THE ENGINE ON THE "SCREAMING FORD" I USED A CYLINDER HEAD FROM A FARGO TRUCK AS A WEIGHT SO THE RAGS DIDN'T BLOW AWAY.

MY MECHANIC FRIEND KNOWN AS SLYVESTER IN COMPUTER LAND HELPED WITH THE VALVE SETTING. OF COURSE HE SHOWS UP DRIVING A 1946 MOTORCYCLE.

WITH THE SEMI FIXED AND READY TO GO, WE THEN HAD TO FIX SOUTHERN BELLE'S SOUTHERN CAR WHICH BURNT A VALVE TOO. A LITTLE SPOOKY HERE I WOULD SAY.

BUT THIS "TOY"OTA CAR IS NOT FUN TO WORK ON, DAD AND I HAD GREAT FUN. IF ALL ELSE FAILS GET A BIG HAMMER AND THAT IS WHAT WE DID, LOL

WITH THE LITTLE "TOY"OTA CAR FIXED WE HAULED IT 30 MILES TO GET A SAFETY ON THE CAR. SO I TOOK THIS PICTURE OF OAK LAKE MANITOBA SHOWING HOW THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED MUCH OVER THE YEARS.

ON THE RETURN TRIP BACK TO "MY INHERITANCE" THE EXHAUST STACK ON ONE SIDE OF THE SCREAMING FORD" STARTED PUMPING LOTS OF BLACK SMOKE. WHICH IS NOT A GOOD THING WHEN DIESEL FUEL IN A $1.00 A LITRE SO THE PROFITS ARE GOING UP IN SMOKE.

EVEN SYLVESTER IS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH MONEY IS GOING OUT THE EXHAUST STACK IN UNBURNT FUEL.

WITH THE FAULTY INJECTOR FIXED WE HEADED TO WINNIPEG MANITOBA TO LOAD LUMBER AND BOATS FOR THE TRIP BACK TO THE GREAT WHITE NORTH. IN THIS PICTURE YOU CAN TELL ONCE AGAIN THAT WE ARE IN THE SOUTH.

THE LUMBER WAS EASY TO LOAD, BUT THE BOAT TOOK A LITTLE TIME AND HAD TO BE HANDLED WITH SILK GLOVES. VERY GOOD OPERATOR ON THE FARM TRACTOR MADE IT A LOT EASIER.

SOUTHERN BELLE WENT TO GET THE LAST OF THE FAST FOOD FOR LUNCH AND CAME BACK WITH THIS DOG. SO I GUESS THE GERMAN SHEPPARD IN THE "KINGDOM" NOW HAS A GIRL FRIEND.

WE STOPPED AT A SOUTHERN BELLES RELATIVE TO SPEND THE NIGHT BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER THEN A FANCY HOTEL WITH INDOOR PLUMPING. SO I TOOK THIS PICTURE OF A VERY NICE LOAD HEADING TO THE "KINGDOM"

AFTER 13 HOURS OF TRAVELING, SOUTHERN BELLE SNAPPED THIS SHOT ONLY A MILE FROM THE "KINGDOM"

THANSK
